FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neonatology, paediatrics and haematology, and represents a method for prediction of development of early anaemia of premature infants in the first month of life in deep-seated children born with body weight less than 1500 g. Weight and height of the child at birth and gestational age are determined. Content in peripheral venous blood on 3–5th day of life of the insulin-like growth factor and protein-3 binding the insulin-like growth factor is determined. Prognostic index (D) is calculated by an original calculation formula. If D is more than 0, the development of early anaemia of premature infants in the first month of life is predicted; if D is less than 0, the absence of early anaemia of premature infants is predicted.
EFFECT: method enables distinguishing a risk group among premature newborns weighing less than 1500 g for development of the early anaemia of premature infants in the first month of life and performing timely preventive measures that improves health and quality of life of these children.
