FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to surgical staplers. Surgical stapling instrument comprises an elongated shaft assembly, a surgical end effector, a hinged joint system, a first biasing element and a second biasing element. Articulation system comprises a pivot articulation element, a first distal articulation drive assembly, a second distal articulation drive assembly and a rotary articulation rotary articulation device in the first and second rotation directions about the pivot axis. According to the second embodiment, the surgical stapling instrument comprises an elongated shaft assembly, a trigger element movable in a longitudinal direction, a surgical end effector and a hinge joint system. Articulation system comprises a rotary drive element, a rotary driven element, a first distal articulation drive assembly, a second distal articulated joint drive assembly and means for selective application of the pivotal rotation control motions to the pivoting drive element. Device for selective application contains engine and switching device. In the third embodiment, the surgical stapling instrument comprises an elongated shaft assembly, a surgical end effector configured to move the trigger element in a longitudinal direction, and a hinge joint system. Articulation system comprises a pivot articulation element, a first distal articulation drive assembly, a second distal articulation drive assembly and a rotary articulation rotary articulation device in the first and second rotation directions about the pivot axis. Device for selective turning comprises motor and switching device.
EFFECT: inventions allow tissue cutting and suturing.
