FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surgical instrument comprises an elongated shaft assembly, an end effector mounting assembly, a first and a second branch, means for displacing the first and second branches from one another into an open position and means for applying closing movements to the first and second branches to move the first and second branches to each other in closed positions. Mounting assembly of end effector is connected with possibility of movement with unit of elongated shaft for selective articulation between articulated position and pivotally turned positions around pivotal axis of rotation, which is transverse to barrel axis. First and second jaws are connected with possibility of movement with mounting unit of end effector such that the first and second branches, each, are movable relative to each other and the axis of the shaft around a common axis of rotation between an open position and closed positions. First jaw comprises first point, and second jaw comprises second point. First and second points are located along common axis, which is perpendicular to barrel axis. First point is located at first distance from barrel axis when first branch is in open position. Second point is located at second distance from barrel axis when second branch is in open position. Second distance differs from the first distance, at least when said end effector is in hingedly rolled position. Closing means for application of closing motions comprises end sleeve of closing end effector, which is made with possibility of simultaneous interaction with sections of first and second branches in axial movement of closing sleeve end effector in first direction. First and second branches can be closed with different closing speeds with simultaneous application of closing motions to them.
EFFECT: inventions provide reduced range of branch movement, which provides improved arrangement of tissue.
