FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrolysis cell unit for aluminium production. Insulation unit comprises a body of insulating material having a lower surface configured to contact the electrolysis cell side, a top surface opposite the lower surface, and a perimeter side wall extending between the upper surface and the lower surface and surrounding the rest of the body, wherein the perimeter side wall includes an inner portion which faces the electrolysis cell anode surface and is made from a non-metallic material, wherein the body is configured to stretch from the bead to the anode surface, and the inner surface is configured to provide a gap between the body and the anode surface of the electrolysis cell of 2 mm to 10 mm. Disclosed is an electrolysis cell for producing aluminium, which contains said insulation assembly.
EFFECT: preventing heat losses and limiting fluoride evaporation from the electrolysis cell.
