SUBSTANCE: method for diagnosing an internal combustion engine involves using a measurement system, which includes a set of sensors, switching cables and a complex of hardware and software for processing, presentation and storage of information, wherein complex of hardware-software means for processing, presentation and storage of information includes additional electronic unit completely identical in design to standard electronic engine control unit and having software for operation with additional sensors, and a laptop computer connected in series to an additional electronic engine control unit and having software for operation with an additional electronic control unit.

EFFECT: portable computer is connected to external diagnostic connector (OBD-connector) of additional electronic control unit.
