SUBSTANCE: packaging device according to the invention comprises sensor system (54) configured to define a set of suitable gripping points, at least one guide unit (16) configured to direct the product and provided with at least one degree of freedom for rotating the product around, in fact, horizontal axis of rotation, and manipulator (28) comprising gripping element (44) and transfer device (30), having at least four degrees of freedom for product transfer and rotation around, in fact, horizontal axis, wherein product rotation around substantially vertical axis of rotation is possible by providing movement device and/or guiding unit with additional degree of freedom.
EFFECT: invention relates to packing device and sorting system (82) for directed packing of products (P), such as vegetables and fruits, and to method of packaging.
