FIELD: driving assistance system.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for driving assistance. Method of assisting driving makes the considered vehicle to move, following the vehicle that is ahead of it. Proposed method comprises determining whether forward-moving vehicle is present or not. When determining that a preceding vehicle is present, the type of the preceding vehicle is determined to determine whether the vehicle is four-wheeled or two-wheeled. When the vehicle is four-wheeled, the distance separating vehicles are controlled to a four-wheeled vehicle. In the case of a preceding vehicle is a two-wheeled vehicle, the distance separating vehicles are controlled to a two-wheeled vehicle without following the route based on the two-wheeled vehicle.

EFFECT: higher safety of vehicle driving is achieved.
