FIELD: traffic solutions.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for assisting driving. The method for assisting driving using a controller contains steps at which it is determined whether there is a request to perform a correction of the position of the vehicle involved, based on the result of comparing the target information with the target information obtained by using an on-board sensor installed in the vehicle involved. Also, a target distance between vehicles is set within the previously set first target distance between vehicles after determining that the execution request has not been made. The method also contains steps at which it is determined that the request for execution was made, whether the correction impossibility period during which the correction cannot be performed lasted during a pre-set threshold period, and after determining that the correction impossibility period lasted during the said threshold period, the distance between vehicles is set within the second target distance between vehicles, after determining that the request for execution has been made.
EFFECT: increase in the vehicle driver’s safety is achieved.
