FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurology, endocrinology, and can be used for selection of patients for duplex scanning of main arteries of head in order to detect significant stenosis. Blood is analysed. It is followed by immunoenzymometric determination of blood triglycerides, blood plasma glucose and immunoprecipitation of lipoprotein (a). Triglyceride-glucose (ITG) index is calculated by formula: ([ln (fasting triglycerides (mmol/l) × 88.495575) × (fasting plasma glucose (mmol/l) × 18.018018)]/2), where ln - natural logarithm, 88.495575 and 18.018018 are correction factors and level of lipoprotein (a). Each obtained result of ITG and lipoprotein (a) is assigned points as follows: if ITG is less than 4.5 units - 0 points, 4.5–4.9 units - 1 point, equal to or more than 5 units - 2 points; if the level of lipoprotein (a) is less than 30 mg/dl is assigned 0 points, equal to or more than 30 mg/dl is assigned 1 point. That is followed by calculating the total score, and if it is 2 points or more, the patient is required to perform duplex scanning of the main arteries of the head in order to detect a significant stenosis, and less than 2 points - performing duplex scanning of main arteries of head in order to detect significant stenosis is not required.
EFFECT: method enables high accuracy and validity of selecting patients for conducting duplex scanning of the main arteries of the head in order to detect significant stenosis by biochemical blood test for presence of triglycerides, blood plasma glucose and immunoprecipitation of lipoprotein (a), and calculation of triglyceride-glucose index.
