FIELD: spectrometry.
SUBSTANCE: method of calibrating an optical emission spectrometer which generates spectral light by means of short sparks, obtained by a spark generator, incident on a target, consists in the fact that the spectrometer is calibrated using a reference material, wherein the reference material has a uniform content of elements which is protected by an inert coating, wherein inert coating does not contain elements intended for measurement in steel or in iron alloy, wherein reference material prior to calibration is stored in atmosphere of inert gas or in vacuum, wherein in order to protect uniform content of elements in addition to inert coating inert gas is used.
EFFECT: technical result consists in facilitating calibration of the spectrometer.
