FIELD: vessels and other watercrafts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice-breaking, particularly, to performance of icebreaking works by air-cushion ships (ACS). Method of ice cover destruction by resonance method consists in simultaneous movement of two ACSs in immediate proximity to each other by front in one and the same direction. Additional standing flexure-gravity waves (FGW) with their resonance frequency are excited between vessels due to periodic pressure variation in their air cushions (AC). After the first passage, the vessels are turned through 180 degrees and re-moved at a resonant speed while preserving the previous mode of movement along partially destroyed sections of ice. Exciting the wave system, which is additional to the main one of translational movement of the ships, will increase the amplitude of total FGW and, accordingly, their ice breaking capacity.
EFFECT: disclosed is method of ice cover destruction.
