FIELD: vessels and other watercrafts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice-technical equipment, particularly to performance of icebreaking works by air-cushion ships. Disclosed is method of ice cover destruction, which consists in progressive simultaneous movement of two vessels along sinusoidal trajectories, which are shifted relative to each other by half of sine wave length and have amplitude, sufficient for excitation of resonant flexural-gravity waves (FGW) of maximum height at approach of vessels to minimum safe distance. Projections of velocities for both longitudinal and transverse directions of ship movement should be equal to speed of resonant FGWs.
EFFECT: high efficiency of ice cover destruction is achieved by interference of resonant FGWs excited by two vessels moving both in longitudinal and transverse directions at resonant speed.
