FIELD: computer equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of obtaining motion vector predictor candidates for an encoding unit forming part of a current picture to be encoded, the method comprising steps of selecting one or more motion vectors associated with blocks in predetermined positions in the current picture as one or more spatial motion vector predictor candidates, and selecting a motion vector associated with the block lower diagonally and to the right from the region on the image different from the current picture as a temporal candidate of the motion vector predictor, wherein the number of temporal motion vector predictor candidates for a coding unit is not more than one, and wherein said region is located in a position corresponding to the coding unit.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improved efficiency of coding.
