FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the workpieces continuous casting. Supplying the metal into the integral mold (1) for the workpiece with rounded side walls hardened crust formation, which is drawn into the closely docked with the integral one detachable mold. Integral mold wide and narrow walls are conjugated along radii equal to the half the distance between the wide walls. Detachable mold wide walls (4, 5) are given rocking motions in the direction perpendicular to the workpiece movement axis. Workpiece is formed in the detachable mold by the workpiece crusts wide walls closing, compression and calibration. On the each detachable mold wide wall working surface side by two protrusions are made. For the workpiece two-stage formation, the protrusions are made with increased height in the casting direction. At the first stage, closed the crust wide walls side zones by their bending, and at the second stage, closing the crust wide walls completely with elimination of the liquid phase.

EFFECT: enabling increase in the workpiece quality, prevention of the liquid metal breakthroughs and increase in the casting stability.
