FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of suppressing instabilities of optical discharge for stabilization of broadband optical radiation with high spectral brightness and is of interest for applications in microelectronics, spectroscopy, photochemistry and other fields. Method of suppressing instabilities of optical discharge located in discharge chamber, at which initial ignition of plasma is performed by external electric pulse between two metal electrodes. Between two metal electrodes sinusoidal voltage is also supplied with frequency corresponding to multiple portions of resonance acoustic frequencies of gas volume of discharge chamber.
EFFECT: reduction of oscillatory instability of optical discharge and improvement of its spatial stability.
