FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices and a method of eliminating optical discharge instabilities for stabilization of broadband optical radiation with high spectral brightness and is of interest for applications in microelectronics, spectroscopy, photochemistry and other fields. Device for elimination of optical discharge instabilities consists of discharge chamber, transparent for input laser radiation and output optical radiation, filled with gas mixture, one or more lasers located outside the discharge chamber, the radiation of which is focused near the center of the discharge chamber, characterized in that the discharge chamber has two metal electrodes, wherein internal volume of discharge chamber is tightly connected to external reservoir, which is a Helmholtz resonator.
EFFECT: elimination of oscillation instability of optical discharge and improvement of its spatial stability due to supply of voltage between two electrodes with frequency corresponding to multiple fractions of resonance acoustic frequency of Helmholtz resonator connected to discharge chamber.
