FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices and a method of elimination of optical discharge instabilities for stabilization of broadband optical radiation with high spectral brightness and is of interest for applications in microelectronics, spectroscopy, photochemistry and other fields. Device for elimination of instabilities of optical discharge consists of discharge chamber, transparent for input laser radiation and output optical radiation, filled with gas mixture, one or more lasers located outside the discharge chamber, the radiation of which is focused near the center of the discharge chamber, differing by the fact that the internal volume of the discharge chamber is tightly connected to an external reservoir, which is a Helmholtz resonator.
EFFECT: elimination of oscillation instability of optical discharge and improvement of its spatial stability due to modulation of laser radiation supporting optical discharge with frequency corresponding to resonant acoustic frequency of Helmholtz resonator.
