FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst composition, a method for production thereof, a catalytic article and a method of converting a hydrocarbon in an exhaust gas stream. Catalyst composition is configured to convert hydrocarbons in a hydrocarbon-containing stream and contains a platinum group metal (PGM) component, containing material containing zirconium oxide. Zirconium oxide makes at least 90 wt % in monoclinic phase. Component of platinum group metal (PGM) includes platinum and palladium present in weight ratio of 1:1 to 0.1:1, and wherein one or both of palladium and platinum are in form of colloidally deposited nanoparticles. Method of producing catalyst composition comprises combining material containing zirconium oxide with colloidal solution of at least one platinum group metal precursor, so that at least one platinum group metal is included in the form of nanoparticles on material containing zirconium oxide. Catalytic article is configured to convert hydrocarbons in a hydrocarbon-containing stream and comprises: a catalyst support having a plurality of channels for gas flow, each channel having a wall surface; and catalytic coating.
EFFECT: technical result is higher activity of catalyst composition.
