DIESEL FUEL OXIDATION CATALYST HAVING CAPTURE AREA FOR SULFUR-CONTAINING IMPURITIES Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC B01J37/03 B01J21/04 B01J23/44 B01D53/94 B01J35/00 B01J35/04 B01J35/10

Abstract RU 2783210 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a system for release of exhaust gases for processing of exhaust gases produced by a diesel engine, as well as to a heavy-duty vehicle with a diesel engine, containing this system. The system for release of exhaust gases contains an oxidation catalyst and a downstream located device for control of emissions, which is a selective catalytic reduction catalyst or a catalyst of a selective catalytic reduction filter. At the same time, the oxidation catalyst does not contain rhodium and contains: a flow monolithic base; a catalytic zone located at an inlet end of the base, wherein the catalytic zone has a length from 10 to 90% of a length of the base, and containing catalytic material containing platinum group metal (PGM) selected from a group consisting of platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), and a combination of platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd); as well as a capture zone located at an outlet end of the base and having a length from 15 to 65% of the length of the base. The capture zone contains capturing material for capture of at least one sulfur-containing impurity in exhaust gases produced by the diesel engine, and this capturing material contains metal for reaction interaction with sulfur oxide in exhaust gases and refractory oxide particles. Moreover, metal for reaction interaction with sulfur oxide in exhaust gases is palladium (Pd), and refractory oxide particles have an average specific surface area of ≤ 50 m2/g, determined by means of physical nitrogen adsorption at -196°C, using a volume-metric method and using an isothermal adsorption equation according to BET. In the system, the catalytic zone is adjacent to the capture zone, or the capture zone both is adjacent to the catalytic zone and covers the catalytic zone.

EFFECT: limitation of maximum amount of sulfur permissible in diesel fuel.
