FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiosurgery, and can be used for fixation of sternum after median sternotomy. Method involves stitched sternum using a wire suture material. First pair of sutures is applied on the sternum handle, the remaining sutures are applied on the sternum. After the even number of single sutures is applied, the first stage involves twisting the wire threads from one side and the other side according to the scheme: 1st to 2nd Left, 3rd to 4th Right and 5th to 6th from Left. Then, using untwisted wire threads, preliminary reduction of sternum is performed by controlling alignment of parts of sternum in auger suture. After that, remaining wire threads are twisted in pairs according to the scheme: 1st to 2nd Right, 3rd to 4th Left and 5th to 6th to Right, finally comparing sternal edges. At the next stage twisted the opposite ends of twisted in pairs wire threads each other, finally fixing sternum.

EFFECT: method provides complete alignment of sternum portions, minimizes the risk of rupture with sternum sutures, reduces a risk of divergence of the edges of the sternum wound after the sternum is closed by a sequence of sutures.
