SUBSTANCE: aerosol-generating system, a cartridge for an aerosol-generating system, and a method for identifying an aerosol-forming liquid substrate, retained in fluid storage part (201) of aerosol generating system. Aerosol generating system comprises liquid storage part (201) for holding liquid aerosol-forming substrate, first electrode and second electrode (304, 305) spaced from first electrode, and control system. At least part of liquid storage part (201) is located between first electrode and second electrode (304, 305), part of liquid storage part (201), located between the first electrode and second electrode (304, 305), holds the liquid aerosol-forming substrate when the aerosol-forming liquid substrate is held in the liquid storage portion (201). Control system is configured to: measure the electrical value between the first electrode and second electrode (304, 305) and identify the aerosol-forming liquid substrate, retained in fluid storage part (201) based on information on the measured electrical quantity.

EFFECT: disclosed is an aerosol-generating system with identification of an aerosol-forming liquid substrate.
