FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrumentation and can be used for remote location of insulation resistance relative to earth (housing) de-energized electrical installations, devices, windings and other objects consisting of electric circuit of series-connected elements (sections) with approximately identical values of resistances. Essence: method consists in the fact that an object consisting of a de-energized electric circuit of series-connected elements (sections) with approximately equal values of resistances, measuring the resistance value between one of the supply terminals of the circuit and the housing, magnitude of resistance between the other supply terminal of the circuit and the housing is measured, and the value of total electrical resistance of the circuit of series-connected elements is measured. Measured values are entered into a system of three equations with three unknown values: resistance of the section of the series circuit of elements from one supply terminal to the point of reducing insulation resistance, resistance of the section of the series circuit of elements from the other supply terminal to the point of reduction of insulation resistance, resistance to leakage current to the housing. System of equations finds values of said unknown values. Ratio of the value of total electrical resistance of the circuit of series-connected elements to the value of resistance of the section of the series circuit of elements from one supply terminal to the place of reduction of insulation resistance is used and according to known number of in-series connected circuit elements, circuit point of insulation resistance reduction to housing in circuit is determined. Resistance value of leakage current to housing is determined.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of remote determination of point of reduction of insulation resistance of electric circuit of object, comprising series-connected elements (sections) with approximately identical values of resistance, without their disconnection from the circuit of the electrical circuit of the object, using one standard instrument and without using an additional cable.
