SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electrical engineering for protection of shipboard and other autonomous electric power systems (AEPS) with parallel-running generator units (GS) in case of failure of one or more of them. According to the method, with failure of one or more generator units (GS), a mode is determined, in which AEPS functions, which is characterized by the composition of working, as well as switched to nonoperational state, but continuing to operate GS, and selecting corresponding to that mode value of total allowable active load for disabling disable or inoperative GS (Ptot.all.dis.i), from number of total allowable active loads for disconnection of inoperative or inoperative GS (Ptot.all.dis.1, Ptot.all.dis.2 … Ptot.all.dis.i … Ptot.all.dis.m), calculated in advance for the whole number (m) of controlled modes of operation of AEPS, calculating the value of total active load of the entire AEPS at a given time (Ptot.i), comparing the calculated value Ptot.i with the permissible value Ptot.per.dis.i and at Ptot.i > Ptot.per.dis.i generating a signal for disconnection of a part of electric energy consumers until disabling the inoperative GS.
EFFECT: faster disconnection of part of load until disconnection of inoperative GS and prevention of network overload.
