METHOD OF REDUCING SWEATING FROM POLYPROPYLENE WITH HIGH MELT STRENGTH Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC C08K5/09 C08K5/14 C08L23/12 C08L23/14

Abstract RU 2737431 C2

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reduction of fogging from polypropylene with high melt strength (HMS-PP/VLP-PP), obtained by thermal treatment of polypropylene at temperature from 150 to 240 °C in presence of dialkylperoxydicarbonate, wherein method includes adding anhydride into or onto polypropylene with high melt strength, wherein the anhydride is selected from a group consisting of monoanhydrides of formula (I),

,

where R1 is selected from hydrogen and saturated, unsaturated, linear and/or branched hydrocarbon chains with 2–30 carbon atoms, optionally substituted with oxygen-containing groups, R2 is selected from hydrogen and unsaturated, linear and/or branched hydrocarbon chains with 2–30 carbon atoms, R3 is selected from hydrogen, hydroxyl groups and unsaturated, linear and/or branched hydrocarbon chains with 2–30 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 can be bonded to form an aromatic ring or unsaturated aliphatic ring, n=0 if R1 and R2 form an aromatic ring; n=1 if R1 and R2 do not form an aromatic ring. Invention also relates to a method of increasing melt strength of polypropylene by heat treatment of polypropylene at temperature from 150 to 240 °C in presence of 0.5–3 wt %, based on weight of polypropylene, dialkyl peroxydicarbonate, wherein anhydride is added to or onto polypropylene before, during and/or after thermal treatment at a molar ratio of anhydride functional groups/dialkyl peroxydicarbonate in range of 0.8–3.6, wherein the anhydride is selected from a group consisting of monoanhydrides of formula (I).

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of reducing fogging from polypropylene with high melt strength.
