FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polypropylene composition intended for producing a foamed material. Composition contains (a) from 85.0 to 99.90 parts by weight of polypropylene with high melt strength (HMS-PP) and (b) from 0.10 to 5.0 pts. wt. of talc as a nucleating agent with particle size d50 within 5 mcm to 15 mcm, determined by precipitation analysis; (c) optionally 1 to 20 parts by weight of additional polypropylene with high melt strength (HMS-PP'). Total amount of polypropylene with high melt strength (HMS-PP) is at least 85 wt. % of the total weight of the polypropylene composition. HMS-PP is a linear homopolymer of propylene, which is chemically modified with bifunctional unsaturated monomer(s) and/or multifunctional unsaturated low-molecular weight polymer(s), wherein multifunctional low-molecular weight polymer(s) has number-average molecular weight (Mn) ≤ 10000 g/mol. Described also is a foamed material, a multilayer sheet material, an article, a method of producing a foamed sheet material and use of the polypropylene composition to obtain an article.
EFFECT: technical result is providing foams with improved quality, from which articles with smaller thickness with same or improved mechanical properties can be obtained.
