To assess the possibility of landing, the landing spot is irradiated with a signal with linear-frequency modulation, the reflected signal is received, the beat frequency is selected, using the method to determine the depth of the snow cover, additionally measuring the thickness of the ice cover in its presence, comparing the obtained values with threshold values, making a decision on landing, if the obtained values do not exceed threshold values.

EFFECT: higher safety during aircraft landing.
