FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to method of titanium material refining. Method of refining oxygen from titanium material, which is pure titanium, titanium alloy or intermetallic compound containing titanium in amount of 45 wt% or more as one of the main components. Method comprises: a first step of melting plasma-arc melting of titanium material, carried out in an atmosphere of an inert gas containing 5-70 vol% hydrogen, with amount of supplied heat of 15 kW/kg or more for 5 minutes or more, providing introduction of hydrogen into melt of titanium material; and the second stage of melting titanium material, containing hydrogen introduced at the first stage of melting, conducted in an atmosphere of inert gas with amount of supplied heat of 15 kW/kg or more for 5 minutes or more, providing removal of oxygen and hydrogen contained in melt of titanium material. Each of the first stage of melting and the second stage of melting is performed at least once.
EFFECT: removal of oxygen and additionally introduced hydrogen from titanium material.
