FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of vacuum-tube devices (VTD), in particular klystrons. One or several rods made of ceramics absorbing the microwave field, in particular, KT-30, are inserted into the cavity resonator through the hole in the side wall. Axes of rods are perpendicular to axes of span channels. Cylindrical surface of rods is partially coated with a layer of metal, thickness of 3-9 microns, applied by chemical or electrochemical method. Adjustment of level of losses or value of proper Q-factor of the resonator is achieved by turning rods around its own axis. In one version of the device, two sections of the cylindrical surface located opposite to each other remain uncovered by the metal. Width of their Δ is approximately equal to: Δ=(0.1-0.3)D, where D is the diameter of the rod, the length is equal to the whole length of the rod inside the resonator.
EFFECT: enabling adjustment of the loaded Q-factor of the resonator without changing the resonance frequency.
