FIELD: physics; radio.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radioelectronics, specifically to vacuum tube microwave devices designed for generating ultrashort electrical voltage pulses with ultrahigh repetition frequency and can be used, for instance in radar, radio counter measures and in other engineering fields. The device has an electron gun, an electron bunching device with a microwave energy input, a device for converting electron energy into microwave energy, a collector and a microwave energy output in form of a coaxial transmission line. The device for converting electron energy is in form of a half-wave coaxial resonator the outer and inner hollow conductors of which are separated by a high frequency gap formed between the first end walls of the conductors of the resonator on the side of the bunching device. Between the second end walls of the conductors of the resonator on the side of the microwave energy output there is a dielectric bushing which is also leak-tightly joined to the said walls. The collector is placed inside the inner conductor of the resonator on the side of the high frequency gap. The coaxial line for output of microwave energy lies coaxially with the resonator on its outer side.
EFFECT: shorter duration and increased amplitude of electrical voltage pulses of the output microwave signal with retention of ultrahigh repetition frequency of pulses, as well as simplicity, compactness, electrical strength, possibility of tuning frequency of the output coaxial resonator, reduced probability of spurious oscillations in the resonator and efficient heat removal from the collector and heat-loaded elements of the coaxial resonator of devices with high power level.
