FIELD: chemical or physical processes.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to methods of producing catalyst compositions for olefin polymerisation. Method of producing the precatalyst comprises: a) drying substrate material containing silicon dioxide at temperature of 150 °C to 200 °C to produce dried substrate; b) contacting dried substrate with methanol to obtain a suspended substrate; c) next after b) cooling of suspended substrate to temperature of less than 40 °C to obtain cooled suspended substrate; d) following after c) contacting the cooled suspended substrate with titanium alkoxide to obtain a titanised substrate; and e) after addition of titanium alkoxide addition of water at temperature 65 °C in amount of 0.2 to 10 mol per mole of titanium; and f) heat treatment of the titanised substrate by heating to a temperature equal to or greater than 150 °C for a period of time from 5 hours to 30 hours to remove methanol and obtain a dried titanised substrate; note here that said method additionally includes addition of chromium-containing compound till complete removal of methanol to produce precatalyst. Amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC) released on ignition at temperature in range from 400 °C to 1000 °C for period of 30 minutes to 24 hours is less than 2 wt %.
