METHOD FOR DETERMINING INDICATIONS FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF DEGENERATIVE LAMELLAR MACULAR RUPTURE Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B3/12

Abstract RU 2749300 C1

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to ophthalmology, it can be used to determine the indications for surgical treatment of degenerative lamellar macular rupture (hereinafter – LMR). The macular area, including the LMR area, is scanned using optical coherence tomography (hereinafter – OCT). The minimum residual thickness of the retina is measured. If its value is less than 68 mcm, then surgical treatment is considered indicated. If the value of the residual minimum thickness of the retina is more than 68 mcm, then, a second OCT examination is performed after 6-18 months and the quantitative parameters of the LMR are measured: the maximum size of the rupture, the minimum residual thickness of the retina, the maximum length of the ellipsoid zone defects, in mcm. The change in these parameters for the year is calculated using the formula D=(d/n)*12, where D is the calculated change in the parameter for the year, d is the actual change in the parameter, and n is the observation period in months. If, in terms of a year, the maximum size of the rupture increased by more than 242 mcm, or the maximum length of the ellipsoid zone defects increased by more than 183 mcm, or the minimum residual thickness of retina decreased by more than 116 mcm, or the minimum residual thickness of retina was less than 68 mcm, then surgical treatment is considered indicated.

EFFECT: method provides determination of indications for surgical treatment of degenerative LMR due to statistically valid criteria of its progression.
