SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. To take samples of the wool of mammals of the order of rodents for the study of the elemental composition, the required hair sample of length L is cut, which is calculated taking into account the rate of their regrowth from the root by the formula: L = S×I, where L is the distal distance measured from the hair root (mm), S - hair growth rate (mm / day), I - studied time period (day). Sampling is performed from the area of the animal's back (below the projection of the shoulder blades), while the rate of hair regrowth from the root S = 0.22±0.03 mm / day.

EFFECT: method increases the efficiency and accuracy of assessing the elemental status of representatives of the order of rodents, makes it possible to promptly correct the imbalance in the exchange concentration of chemical elements in the animal's body and takes into account seasonal fluctuations of the studied elements.
