For sampling the hair of mares for examination on the elemental composition, the hair is cut by the required length L, which is calculated taking into account the speed of their growth from the root by the formula: L=S×I, where L is the distal distance measured from the hair root (mm), S is the hair growth rate (mm/day), I is the time period under study (day). Sampling is performed from the mare's mane in the area of the projection of the first cervical vertebra, with the hair growth rate from the root is S=1.11±0.063 mm/day.

EFFECT: method improves the efficiency and accuracy of assessing the elemental status of horses and promptly correct the imbalance of the exchange concentration of chemical elements in the animal's body.
