FIELD: poultry farming.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of poultry farming and can be used for sampling the feathers of young laying hens in the study of elemental composition. The method includes plucking flight feathers of the wing weighing at least 0.4 grams and length adjustment taking into account the rate of regrowth of the feather, measured from the proximal edge of the rod, for the age period under study, which is calculated by the formula: L=3.3×I, where L is the proximal regrowth of the feather, mm; 3.3 is the rate of regrowth of the flight feathers in young laying hens aged 10-50 days, mm/day; I is the estimated age period, days.
EFFECT: invention increases the efficiency and accuracy of assessing the elemental status of young laying hens.
