SUBSTANCE: invention relates to animal husbandry, in particular to horse breeding and can be used for the selection of stallions with high quality sperm. A method for assessing the quality of stallions’ sperm by the level of α-amylase activity in the blood serum, including determining the level of α-amylase activity in the blood serum, and when the activity of α-amylase in the blood serum is below 24.5 IU/l, the stallion should be referred to the group with high sperm quality, and when the activity of α-amylase in the blood serum is above 24.5 IU/l, respectively, to the group with low sperm quality.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to evaluate the quality of stallion sperm without resorting to the selection of the sperm itself.
