FIELD: acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of acoustic measurements. A method of manufacturing an artificial reflector for a waveguide method of monitoring lengthy objects from a polymer composite material includes applying an artificial reflector to the sample. An artificial reflector is made in the form of a bead of filler material with a cross section in the defect zone larger than the main body of a lengthy object, while the height of the bead h is determined based on the magnitude of the expected signal from the artificial reflector, and the length L is determined from the ratio L = λ / 4, where λ is the length of the acoustic wave, determined by the fundamental frequency of the acoustic signal ƒ and the speed of the acoustic wave with λ = ƒ / s.
EFFECT: technical result consists in creating an artificial reflector with a length L = λ / 4, where λ is the acoustic wavelength determined by the fundamental frequency of the acoustic signal ƒ and the speed of the acoustic wave with λ = ƒ / s and height h in the form of a bead with an increase in the cross-sectional area of a lengthy object in the area of the artificial reflector without disturbing the internal structure of the polymer composite material, in simplifying and reducing the cost of the device design.
