FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of actuators and sensors. The actuating and reading device based on the electroactive material is actuated by an actuation signal having an activation period for charging the actuating device and a deactivation period for discharging the actuating device. The parallel resistance of the actuating device is determined by reading the steady-state current during the activation period, and the serial capacity of the actuating device is determined based on the charge flow during charging of the actuating device at the beginning of the activation period. The serial resistance is obtained by regulating the current through the actuating device using an oscillating profile so that the phase ratio of the actuating device between current and voltage can be measured. An oscillating current drain is used to enable the measurement of circuit components that implement the reading functionality.
