FIELD: cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the processing of materials by cutting; it can be used in structures of cutting tools when milling parts. A cutting insert has opposite first front and rear end surfaces with a peripheral side surface passing between them and the first axis passing through them, and a median plane perpendicular to the first axis and located between the front and rear end surfaces. Each of the front and rear end surfaces has a rectangular shape on its corresponding end view and two diagonally opposite raised corners and two diagonally opposite lowered corners relatively to the median plane. The front end surface has a front main cutting edge connected to it, and, in a cross section made along the first plane containing the first axis, the front end surface has a concave shape, and the rear end surface has a convex shape. The cutting insert is fixed with the possibility of removal in a slot for placing the insert of the cutting tool.
EFFECT: reliable fixing of the cutting insert is provided.
