METHOD FOR STRENGTHENING KERATOPROSTHESIS USING AUTOFASCIA OF TEMPORAL MUSCLE Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61F9/00 A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2754727 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. To strengthen the keratoprosthesis during its protrusion, the epithelium is removed from the surface of the leucorrhoea, the adhesions around the base plate of the keratoprosthesis are dissected, the scleral area is cleaned, the keratoprosthesis is installed in the correct position, tightly fixing the base plate of the keratoprosthesis with interrupted sutures to the surrounding tissues of the leucorrhoea. In the area of the fascia of the temporal muscle, an autofascia flap with a diameter of 15 mm is isolated, the wound on the temple is sutured in layers. A hole is formed in the center of the resulting flap with a 3 mm trephine, the flap is placed over the keratoprosthesis, aligning the formed hole with the optical cylinder of the keratoprosthesis. Interrupted sutures fix the temporal muscle autofascia flap along the outer edge to the sclera and along the edge of the opening to the underlying tissues of the leucorrhoea. In the upper and lower segments of the eyeball, flaps of the tenon capsule and conjunctiva are formed, and they are sutured with interrupted sutures over the autofascia flap of the temporal muscle sequentially. A solution of an antibiotic and a corticosteroid is administered subconjunctivally. The operation is completed with a temporary blepharorhaphy with one interrupted suture in the center and the application of an aseptic pressure bandage over the eye.

EFFECT: invention improves visual functions, excludes such postoperative complications as: repeated protrusion of the keratoprosthesis, superficial necrosis, thinning of the leucorrhoea and the formation of overgrowth of the anterior surface of the optical cylinder.
