FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a selective insecticide composition for controlling Varroa destructor mites. Also disclosed is a nucleic acid construct for combating Varroa destructor, comprising a nucleic acid molecule, which is substantially identical or substantially complementary to a portion of the target sequence of the calmodulin gene Varroa destructor, or RNA transcribed therefrom. Invention also relates to a method for providing a honey bee composition, a method of reducing Varroa destructor parasitism on a honey bee, method of reducing load of Varroa destructor of a honey bee in a hive of honey bees, as well as to a method for selective treatment of a species of arthropods from Varroa destructor.
EFFECT: invention provides effective control of Varroa destructor.
