SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for storing cartographic data and a device for storing cartographic data. The method for storing cartographic data is presented for obtaining the content of cartographic data used in the vehicle under consideration and storing the content of cartographic data in common database (110) using a controller. This method includes stages in which a priority level is assigned to the content of cartographic data, at least one of a lane boundary line and a connection of traffic lanes is obtained as the content of cartographic data with a higher priority level. Then, the format of the received content of cartographic data, including the lane boundary line and the connection of traffic lanes, is converted into the specified format that can be used in the vehicle under consideration, then, the content of cartographic data converted to the specified format is saved in the database, update information regarding the content of cartographic data stored in the database is received, and the content of cartographic data in the specified format stored in the database is edited based on received update information.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of editing the content of cartographic data in the vehicle under consideration based on the received content of cartographic data in a format different from that one used in the vehicle under consideration.
