FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical equipment and can be used in construction and operation of high voltage electrical systems. A capacitive electric power accumulator 2 is connected in series with the controlled insulator 1, with a higher specific electric strength than the insulator 1, shunted by a spark gap 3 generating electromagnetic emissions in the radio frequency range detected by a radio wave receiver 5 during a spark discharge 4. One of the electrodes of the spark gap 3 consists of a fixed part 6 and a moving part 7, interconnected by an element of separation or movement 8 of the moving part 7 during the flow of a short circuit current.
EFFECT: proposed method for indication of the electric state of polymer insulators is characterised by increased efficiency of detecting insulators with electrically faulted internal insulation at an early stage of aging in the mode of online diagnostics and visualisation of the total loss of electrical strength of the insulator with high operational reliability of the indication apparatus.
