SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an electrically heated aerosol-generating system and a kit for such a system. Electrically heated aerosol-generating system comprises a consumable cartridge, an electrically heated device and a heater assembly. Consumable cartridge comprises a storage portion having an aerosol-forming substrate, the storage portion having a fluid-permeable inner surface surrounding an open-ended passage passing through the cartridge. Electrically heated aerosol generating device for use with consumable cartridge, wherein said device comprises a body having a cavity to receive at least a portion of the cartridge. Heater assembly is arranged in the cavity and comprises an electroconductive hollow part of the rod connected to the body and defining an air flow passage forming part of the air flow path through the device. Hollow part of the rod is located for passage into the passage with an open end of the cartridge located in the cavity. At least one electric heater is located along the hollow part of the rod. Electric heater comprises at least one heating element for heating the aerosol-forming substrate of the cartridge placed in the cavity, wherein the hollow part of the rod has a plurality of holes. At least one heating element is formed by one or more narrow areas of the hollow part of the rod between adjacent holes. With such an arrangement, the hollow part of the rod provides support for at least one electric heater and provides an air flow channel. This provides a compact device and promotes cost-effective mass production.

EFFECT: availability of the air flow passage in the hollow part of the rod allows to minimize heat losses from the device and allows to easily maintain such temperature of the device housing, at which it is convenient to hold it by the user.
