FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in medical industry in production of aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamycin with a wide range of action, as a drug of choice for emergency prevention and treatment of especially dangerous infections. Method envisages preparation and sterilization of a protective medium (sucrose-gelatine or 0.5 % aqueous solution of betaine hydrochloride) and its sterility testing; growing of vegetative inoculating material (VIM) Micromonospora purpurea var. violacea strain 7R; preparation of VIM strain 7R with protective medium in ratio 1:1; preliminary freezing of VIM 7R strain with protective medium at temperature minus 40 °C and holding at said temperature for one hour, further freezing of VIM strain 7R with protective medium at temperature minus 150 °C; storage of VIM strain 7R with protective medium at temperature minus 150 °C.

EFFECT: disclosed method allows long-term storage of VIM 7R and use it after defrosting at temperature of 37 °C for biosynthesis of gentamycin.
