SUBSTANCE: invention relates to firefighting equipment and is intended for extinguishing fires in tanks with a floating roof intended for storing easily flammable and combustible liquids. The apparatus for extinguishing a fire in a tank with a floating roof includes fire extinguishing modules, pipelines, spraying nozzles, and lock and release apparatuses. Each fire extinguishing module includes at least one fire extinguishing agent storage cylinder providing the possibility of storing a mixture of liquefied phlegmatising gas or a mixture of gases with a fire extinguishing powder, and at least one lock and release apparatus configured to act by means of an electric or pneumatic actuation by a control signal. The fire extinguishing modules are configured to be located on the floating roof of the tank and connected with an annular collector, similarly connected with the spraying nozzles located near the middle of the annular gap. The fire extinguishing apparatus additionally comprises a control apparatus configured to receive a signal from at least one linear heat fire detector configured to be located in the annular gap. The control apparatus also includes an interface firefighting module providing intrinsic safety of the alarm circuits and connected with the linear heat fire detector by means of explosion-protected switching boxes providing switching of the heat fire detector with a wired communication line.

EFFECT: ensured effective and fast extinguishing of a fire in an annular gap, supplying an extinguishing agent to the entire volume of the annular gap and creating conditions therein under which burning is impossible.
