FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to oncology and concerns a method for preoperative differential diagnosis of anaplastic thyroid cancer. The method includes the following steps: isolation of microRNAs from cytological preparations obtained by fine needle aspiration puncture biopsy from a thyroid tumor; determination of the expression level of diagnostically significant microRNAs based on the method for polymerase chain reaction with reverse transcription in real time; determination of the expression levels of microRNA-21 and microRNA-145. When the value of the microRNA-21 expression level is more than 15 and the microRNA-21/microRNA-145 ratio is more than 120, a conclusion is made about the presence of anaplastic thyroid cancer in the patient.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides high diagnostic accuracy, as well as its simplification.
