FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology, and can be used for diagnosing malignant neoplasms of the thyroid gland. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy for cytological examination is performed in the patients under the control of ultrasonic scanning. If observing an uncertain result, total microRNA is recovered from the remaining aspirate and expression of miRNA-146b and miRNA-574-3p is determined. Obtained values are substituted into the formula for calculating the diagnostic coefficient K. If the K value is equal to or more than 0.54, a malignant neoplasm of the thyroid gland is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method enables more accurate diagnosis of thyroid malignancies by determining expression of miRNA-146b and miRNA-574-3p.
