FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a differential diagnostic technique for individual's thyroid new growths. The method involves recovering total RNA pool (containing micro-RNA as well) from an individual's thyroid tumour tissue sample and an adjacent intact tissue sample (as a reference) by any known method. That is followed by measuring expression levels of 13 micro-RNAs, namely micro-RNA-21, -221, -222, -205, -146b, -31, -187, -181b, -375, -199b, -144, -200a, -200b (diagnosed micro-RNAs) in the tumour samples as compared to the normal tissues by real-time RT-PCR. The presence and type of the thyroid new growth are stated on the basis of a complex criterion derived from mean expression levels of micro-RNAs in different types of thyroid new growths.
EFFECT: invention enables simplifying a possibility of typing a malignant or benign new growth and reducing its length.
