FIELD: video data encoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of video data encoding. If a “conversion skip” mode is not applicable to an array of values of input video data or an array is a 4x4 array, a frequency conversion of input video data is performed, and quantization of the resulting array of values of frequency-converted input video data is performed by applying quantization parameters that may be different for different data values in the array of values of frequency-converted input data in accordance with the position of each value of frequency-converted input data inside the array. If the “conversion skip” mode is applicable to an array of values of encoded video data, and the array of encoded data values is an 8x8, 16x16 or 32x32 array, quantization of values of input video data is performed by applying quantization parameters, which for each 8x8, 16x16 or 32x32 array of input data values are independent of the position of each input data value inside the array.
EFFECT: increase in the encoding efficiency.
