FIELD: driving assistance methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for driving assistance and a driving assistance device. The driving assistance method comprises the steps of: detecting if there is a request from the main vehicle to perform a lane change to an adjacent lane, detecting if another vehicle moving in an adjacent lane has any intention to perform a lane change in direction of the main vehicle's lane after detecting that there is a request from the main vehicle to perform a lane change. The method also comprises setting another vehicle with the intention of changing lanes as a designated vehicle for changing lanes, and setting the position of the designated vehicle moving in an adjacent lane, as the target lane change; and performing lane change control based on the target lane change. The driving assistance device for the main vehicle comprises a controller including a lane change request detection unit, a lane change intention detection unit, a lane change target setting unit, and a lane change control unit.
EFFECT: increased safety when changing lanes.
